Healthy Methi Dal - One shot cooker recipe - No Onion No garlic

A very simple but healthy dal made using fresh methi leaves and moong dhall. You just have to put all the ingredients in the pressure cooker with enough water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles and you are done with a flavourful healthy dal. This is perfect for those days when we are not in the mood for an elaborate cooking and just want to wind up for the day.
Serve this dal with rotis or plain steamed rice with some roasted papads ,achaar and curd .

Ingredients
2 cups finely chopped methi leaves
2 medium sized tomatoes chopped
1 cup moong dhall
1 tsp ginger finely chopped
2-3 green chillies slit
1/3 tsp haldi powder
salt
To temper
1 tsp ghee
1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
pinch of asafoetida

Method

  • In a pressure cooker,add the washed moong dhall,methi leaves,tomatoes,green chillies,haldi powder,ginger and 2 cups of water.
  • Pressure cook on medium flame for 3-4 whistles.Let the pressure release naturally.
  • Using a big ladle,mix the dal well such that its all mushy and the contents are all mixed well.
  • Add salt and add some warm water in case you feel its too thick.
  • Prepare the tempering using the ingredients mentioned under "to temper" and add it to the dal.
  • Mix well and serve hot with rotis or plain rice .
